I may have a website all about CB's and repairs but I will be the first to admit I do not know it all. With some rigs I have very little
experience so have made this page up to ASK FOR YOUR HELP. None of us know all there is to know but some of us know more
about some rigs than others and vice versa.

I still buy CB's but I tend to buy them to keep these days, I like to get a cheap bargain, get it working OK then save it to the collection I have. This leads to the
downside that sometimes I get a damaged radio I can't fix or am not sure about. Rather than scrap them, which in many cases I could and get more
selling the parts for spares, there are certain rigs, namely the better models, I would rather keep and not scrap. This page is me asking for pointers and
help on things I have in the workshop that I would like to see repaired.
If you can help please EMAIL me on mag2781@yahoo.com

Right, to start things off I have a Uniden 400 PR27GB in pretty good
condition cosmetically. Looking at the board it also looks in pretty good
shape. I changed the protection diode as a matter of course and the one I
took out was fine. No signs of cross connection, no signs of 24v exposure,
No signs of butchery.

Whats wrong? I turn it on and there is NO channel display and the RX and
TX lights are both illuminated at the same time. I plug in a Uniden wired mic
and nothing. No sound at all however when I press TX the RX light does go
out. It does not transmit. There is no sound from the extension speaker and
it doesn't appear to be on any channel. ANY IDEAS? The board is a
PA-198 AB

Ps.
If I rub my finger over the audio IC there is a ruffling sound over the
speaker

This occurs on 3 larger Cybernet 134AOX radios that I have, at fault is a York 863, a Harrier CBX and a Fidelity 2000.

The fault on all 3 is the same, they all transmit but on full power only just manage under 1W output power. I have checked the
output transistors, the driver, associated coils etc but am at a loss as to why the power is so low. As this is on all 3 of these radio's
I imagine it must be a common fault but at the moment it alludes me. I have tried adjusting the TX coils..... ANY IDEAS?
Binatone Speedway, Cybernet 134AOX board

This is an unusual one. I have got this working again to a fasion. It receives fine and also TX'es fine... the problem is there is no
modulation on the carrier. I have checked the mic using a known working one and checked the wires going to the board including
the associated RV silver horseshoe adjusters to no avail. I have also replaced the Audio IC just in case. The board is pretty tidy,
no sign's of any problems...... ANY IDEAS?

CB Radio History from its early days
I have just bought a York JCB 863 for a bargain price. It looks reasonable on the outside and the inside is in very good
condition however it has a fault. The incoming audio is very quiet and there is hardly any modulation on the carrier. It RX'es ok
apart from the loudness and TX'es ok (4W) apart from incredibly low audio.

What have I done so far?

I changed Q16 transistor no no avail. I changed the audio IC just in case but I didn't think it would be that. I changed the FM IF
detector and still the same, again I didn't think it would be that but gave it a try anyhow.

Not sure what else to try, I have checked for loose wires and dry joints... couldn't find any. Oh and the mic is a known working one
so it's not that.
ANY IDEAS? I just thought possibly Q18, I will try that tomorrow.

Maxcom MX-21E small plastic shelled radio. LED bargraph.

This radio turns on and lights up, it also has the usual FM hash sound so it looks like it may be working but alas there is NO TX
and NO RX. It may be down to a TX/RX switching transistor but I am not really familiar with this board so any help would be
gratefully received. If you haver any ideas on how to possibly solve these issues please email me at mag2781@yahoo.com
Radiomobile CB202 - Channel selector board
required. Have you got a spare one?

This radio I got off eBay as supposedly old but working
OK. I never paid much for it and it did basically work
although the channel display was a little screwed up.
Upon opening the radio it became pretty obvious that
someone had fitted a channel selector board from
something else and made an utter bodge of the whole
affair. I removed all the offending wiring and have
re-fitted original clear ribbon cable but need an original
channel selector board (plus maybe the wiring
connector with wires intact?) as I don't want to bodge it.

The board is a
PTSW155AOX.. can you help?
